Your loving reminder that what you see online most of the time are carefully curated collections of “best” or most flattering MOMENTS. I know what angles to contort my body into to pose, but what I typically don’t post are the relaxed, normal stances that would show you that I have a wide rib cage and a grand distance of 0.5cm between where my rib cage ends and pelvic bone starts (short torso president 🙋🏻♀️) that have my body dysmorphia going haywire almost every luteal phase 🫥 and, how I’m genetically predisposed to carry fat in my face and backside.. not glutes, just my mid back so I get cute lil back rolls even when im relatively lean everywhere else. All this is to say, that comparison truly is the thief of joy and it completely undermines what our bodies are capable of DOING because we might get too busy hyper fixating on specific aspects of how we look. I’ll never forget when a friend told me that I’m built like a bulldog. Then proceeded to edit what she said to “or maybe like a frenchie because you’re cute”. And that created a self-perception of being top-heavy, but now on most days I have an overall positive regard for my body, because she’s worked so hard to get strong in spite of everything I put her through! So cheers to shifting our focus on our body’s performance over how it compares to physiques we see online 💛
Feeling very very proud of this one 🤗 like dang, I feel like I’m fighting for 5-10lbs PRs most months at a time but then you factor in some more food for fuel and the occasional spark of a heart on fire and we get these little breakthroughs 🥹 just a little over a year ago I was trying to get over the mental hurdle of not being scared and seemingly forgetting how to squat any weight past 275lbs.
