These tiny crustaceans might look harmless, but step into the wrong part of the beach and they’ll swarm your feet like a scene out of a horror movie. They’re fast, sneaky, and their bites sting. Found along the Pacific coast, especially in California and Oregon, they live just under the wet sand at the waterline—and come out in packs when disturbed. They don’t go after humans on purpose, but when you walk or stand still in their zone, they think you're a big dead fish. And that’s bad news for your toes.
