More on my IG. I've been quiet these past few days as ICE raids and deportations have escalated — not because I don't care, but because I do. As a Puerto Rican, my citizenship protects me from certain threats that others in my community face every single day. I haven’t wanted to speak just to speak — I’ve wanted to listen, learn, and make sure that what I share is useful, not just performative. As someone who was raised half her life in California it is heart breaking seeing the fear in good people who came here to simply better themselves and provide their families with a better future. I want to share real resources, and stand with you — not just now, but always. People might say, assume and think that just because I’m Puerto Rican it doesn’t affect me and that I don’t care, but it does. Many people close to me are being affected and as a human being I don’t like to see injustice or seeing families separated. If you are undocumented or impacted, you matter. You are loved. You have people standing with you. To those living in fear right now: I see you. I care. I’m hurting with you. No one deserves to live in fear of losing their family. No child should go to bed wondering if their parent will be there in the morning. Let’s be clear: these are not criminals. These are parents dropping their kids off at school. These are teenagers working night shifts to support their families. These are people trying to survive systems designed to push them out. And they deserve safety, not punishment. They deserve compassion, not cages. I'll be posting resources, please DM me if you know of any that should be included. People might say “too late” “you’re only posting because you’re being called out” and that has never been the case, I have seen many creators who are only posting now but I haven’t seen them supporting the community on other days, I have personally donated 100% of my collaborations with Tarte 2 years in a row to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation where we paid for hispanic kids to have full rides to college. I have promoted hundreds of small latin owned businesses at no charge. I have spoken at Latin events to share my story in hopes to inspire others. I have donated clothing, I have done donation drives, I have done toy drives for our community. I may not be perfect but everything I do comes from a good place, with good intentions and from my heart because I have always loved and cared deeply for our community.
