another "just needs a tune" has turned into a process of discovery, diagnosis, and now repair. this 2021 Silverado was experiencing some transmission-related issues that, after some testing & tuning, was determined to be maybe a faulty solenoid or possibly some kind of assembly error that required a teardown and inspection. upon doing so, a burned clutch was found, indicating our suspicions might be correct. it will need to reassembled with new parts so that all the clearances can be verified, but we are thinking it just wasn't put together with the correct tolerance. 6, 8, & 10 speed transmissions are known to have several issues, it's just unfortunate that this one appears to be bad right out of the box. #bentune #hptuners #dyno #tuning #mustangdyno #dynotuning #gm #trucks #Chevrolet #Chevy #Silverado #lsx #ltx #L86 #V8 #supercharged #supercharger #boost #boosted #mechanic #mechanicsoftiktok #racetruck #Tuesday #work #LFG

just another crusty, rusty, junky old farm truck on the dyno today. it's been around the block a time or two and seen better days. I tuned this truck a couple years ago with a "milder" engine in it but the owner decided it was time for an upgrade because the old engine just wouldn't stop. "just needs a tune" turned into "can you figure out what's wrong?" which turned into "WTF is doing on?" if you missed the last video, this truck was just dropped off for tuning and after observing a rough running condition, I determined it had no compression and cylinder #3 . I had this Camaro dropped off for tuning after the owner was dissatisfied with the work done by another tuner. when I got started working on the car, I could not get it to run. this is abnormal for me for a car like this as they're usually pretty simple to get going on a base calibration. after the series of questions with the owner, there was some confusion that arose regarding the fuel injectors that led to me determining that I could not tune the car in its current state. after that decision was made, I got a little curious and decided to pull the fuel rail off and inspect the injectors a little bit closer because I was already in the middle of putting spark plugs in the car. this C6 Z06 was dropped off for a lot of issues being resolved. The previous shop that worked on it actually damaged the TR6060 and did a very poor job tuning the car. has a 2017 SS dropped off for tuning. it's been heavily modified with a LSA supercharger and custom camshaft along with some fuel system upgrades. right off the bat, I found several things that seemed off in the tune but felt it should be safe enough for a baseline pull. the car ended up safe, but very rich with relatively low timing, so there's power left on the table. there's a few issues that need to be sorted out on this OBS truck, but the most pressing issue was the factory fuel pump wiring needed to be upgraded. we have an aftermarket fuel pump, in nearly all cases you will need to upgrade the wiring to something that's a little heavier duty, and possibly upgrade the relay as well. in nearly all cases, LS swaps are going to require some kind of fuel pump larger than what the vehicle currently has in it. these larger aftermarket pumps draw a lot more amperage than the old factory pump, so the wiring must be upgraded along with the new pump so things don't get a little too spicy and melt down.. #bentune #hptuners #dyno #tuning #mustangdyno #dynotuning #gm #trucks #Chevrolet #Chevy #Silverado #rcsb #OBS #lsx #btr #BrianTooleyRacing #lsswap #hotrod #mechanic #mechanicsoftiktok #racetruck #wiring #work

cheap parts continue to cause issues on this cammed 2002 Sierra. I finally got everything lined out after replacing the TPS sensor, TPS wiring, IAC, and map sensor. unfortunately, after this video was made, I attempted to complete the tuning process and the transmission ended up having some issues, so tuning was aborted. once again I have to send a car home that was just dropped off for tuning because of mechanical conditions nobody was aware of. this particular example illustrates the importance of verifying valve train geometry. it's a terrible idea to just buy all the parts everyone else buys and assemble it like you see so many people do on the internet.
